BRIDGES

Dental bridges are a great solution for replacing missing teeth, restoring function and esthetics to your smile. At Sana Dental Studio + Spa we offer bridges that are tailored to meet your individual needs, providing an effective way to fill in gaps caused by missing teeth. Our partnership with you allows us to create a bridge that fits perfectly and looks natural so that you can speak, eat, and smile with ease.

What is a Dental Bridge?

Dental bridges are a type of dental restoration that are used to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth, called pontics, which are anchored to the natural teeth or dental implants on either side of the gap. The natural teeth or implants that support the bridge are called abutments. The abutments hold the artificial teeth in place, creating a tooth bridge that fills in the gap from missing teeth. Dental bridges can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain, ceramic, metal, or a combination of these materials. They’re non-removable restorations that resemble natural teeth to improve appearance and functionality of your smile.

Our Dental Bridge Procedure

The process of getting a dental bridge typically requires two visits with our team. During the first appointment, the abutment teeth are prepared by removing a portion of the enamel to make room for the dental crowns. Next, impressions of the teeth are taken to create a custom-fitted bridge. A temporary bridge may be placed to protect the teeth and gums while the permanent bridge is being created.

At the second appointment, the temporary bridge is removed and the permanent bridge is placed and adjusted for proper fit and function. The bridge is then permanently cemented into place. We’ll take our time to ensure there’s a comfortable, secure fit so patients leave our office with confidence in their restoration and appearance.

Benefits of Dental Bridges

Dental bridges offer several benefits, including:

  • Restoring the appearance of your smile
  • Improving your ability to chew and speak properly
  • Reducing the risk of bone less to maintain the shape of your face
  • Preventing the remaining teeth from shifting out of position
  • Distributing the forces in your bite properly to avoid jaw pain or TMD

When are Dental Bridges vs Dental Implants Recommended?

Dental bridges and dental implants are both effective treatments for restoring missing teeth, each with strengths that make them preferable in different cases. Cost is an important factor for most patients. Dental bridges are more affordable than implants, and can be completed in a couple of weeks compared to a months-long process to receive implants. Your oral health will also contribute to your dentist’s recommendation. Dental bridges require healthy abutment teeth on either side of the gap to support the crowns that create the bridge. Since dental implants are more invasive, the ability to recover from oral surgery and a strong jawbone are necessary for successful treatment.

During your consultation, Dr. Yusef will carefully evaluate your oral health and determine the best treatment option for you. She’ll candidly share the benefits of every option to make sure you’re in your best health with whichever restorative option is used to get your smile back.

Caring for Your Dental Bridge

To ensure your dental bridge remains effective and durable, proper care and maintenance is a must. Brush twice daily, floss daily, and use antiseptic mouthwash to prevent plaque buildup and maintain pristine gums. Stay away from hard or sticky foods and refrain from using your teeth as tools. Regular dental checkups are crucial to monitor the health and function of your dental bridge. Schedule a check in with us every six months for preventative care to ensure you’re on the right track.
